Continuing Professional Development
The Sri Lanka Nurses' Association supports continuing professional development (CPD) as part of lifelong learning for nurses. CPD helps nurses maintain and strengthen their knowledge, skills, professional judgement, leadership capability, and confidence throughout their careers.
SLNA's approach: We aim to share relevant professional-development activities, information, and resources that support safe, ethical, evidence-informed, and person-centred nursing practice.
What CPD Can Include
Continuing professional development can take many forms. It may include organised activities, self-directed learning, professional discussion, reflection on practice, and access to current professional resources.
- Clinical knowledge, skills, and evidence-informed nursing practice
- Patient safety, quality improvement, and ethical practice
- Nursing leadership, management, communication, and advocacy
- Research, education, policy, and professional standards
- Emerging health priorities, technology, and multidisciplinary care

SLNA events and programmes may include training sessions, workshops, webinars, seminars, professional discussions, study days, and other activities that bring nurses together for learning, knowledge sharing, and professional engagement.
